The project team understands that an integral part of this process is to incorporate “context sensitive” design principles. We are committed to:

Communicating with all stakeholders early and continuously, and openly and honestly.
- Seeking to understand the community before beginning design.
- Tailoring the public participation process to the project and community.
- Making efficient and effective use of resources (time and budgets) of all involved parties.
- Using a range of tools for communication.
- Listening to and acknowledging concerns and ideas.
- Providing input on how the public input is reflected in the design decisions.
Based on preliminary interviews with a range of the stakeholders and a review of existing projects in the area, some of the major issues associated with this roadway improvement project include (not in any prescribed order):
- Impacts to existing vegetation
- Potential loss of private property
- Impacts to esthetics and quality of neighborhood
- Pedestrian safety
- Traffic speeds
- Width of improvements including travel lanes, shoulders and buffers
- Need for safe walkways and bike paths
- Connectivity - necessary to reduce traffic volumes on all streets in the area
- Connectivity - would improve emergency response times
- Connectivity - existing lack of connectivity enhances the neighborhood aesthetics and quality
- Completing the grid will increase traffic and speeds
- Traffic calming to slow speeds
- Poor condition of roads
- Maintenance
- Incorporate context sensitive solutions
- Access to Abbott Loop and Lake Otis
- Drainage
- Cut through traffic
